Characteristics of si3n4 /zr02 ceramic ball for ceramic ball bearing:
1. High corrosion resistance, which means they can be also used in strong acid, strong alkali and seawater.
2. High temperature resistance. Si3N4 ceramic balls remain the same strength and hardness even in 1100°C.
3. Electrical insulation, non-magnetic, they can also be used in magnetic field.
4. Si3N4 ceramic balls have a low density of 3.26g/cm3. It is approximately 60% lighter than steel balls, which extremely decrease the centrifugal force on the groove, in order to effectively reduce the wear and tear.
5. High rigidity and strength. Compared with chrome steel, Si3N4 ceramic is twice higher in hardness and half higher in elastic modulus value.
6. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Si3N4 is nearly 25% of the chrome steel, which leads to a good thermal shock resistance.
7. The self-lubrication of Si3N4 ceramic ball bearings can help to solve the contamination and inconvenient caused by lubricator, it can also be used in vacuum and high temperature.
8. Low thermal conductivity.

Characteristics of ceramics zirconia:
1. Corrosion resistance, which can also be used in acid and alkali situation.
2. High temperature resistance, which remain the same strength and hardness when the temperature nearly comes to 550℃.
3. Nonmagnetic, electrical insulation, which can be used in magnetic field.
4. ZrO2ceramic balls have low density of 6.05 g/cm3,it is approximately 20% lighter than steel ball, which decrease the centrifugal force on the deep groove, in order to reduce the wear and tear.
5. Excellent resistance to oxidation and metal erosion,ZrO2 ceramic balls also can be used without lubricate environment.
6. Low frication coefficient and high surface finish.
Due to the features of high fracture toughness, high bending strength, high wear resistance, excellent heat insulating property and proper thermal expansion coefficient that closes to steel's, Zirconia ceramic balls are widely employed in ceramic bearing fields. Furthermore, the cost is much lower than silicon nitride ceramic.
