Needle-punched geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) is a woven fabric like material primarily used for the lining of landfills, anti-seepage of artificial lake waterscape, underground garage, roofing garden, water tank, oil depot and chemical pile yard. It is a kind of geomembrane and geosynthetic which incorporates a bentonite, which has a very low hydraulic conductivity. By needle embroidering method, it can form many small fiber spaces, which prevent bentonite particles from moving in one direction, and rubber head water layer with uniform high density is formed in the liner when meeting water. The resulting lower permeability slows the rate of seepage out of the landfill.
