ANNEALED GLASS is not tempered. It can break into large pieces that can fall and become quite dangerous on the way down. Unlike Tempered Safety Glass that is cut to size,
then reheated in the ovens, so that when it breaks - it falls into thousands of 1/4" pieces that is less
likely to hurt anyone.
"Anneal" means
a : to heat and then cool (as steel or glass) usually for softening and making less brittle; also : to cool slowly usually in a furnace
b : to heat and then cool (double-stranded nucleic acid) in order to separate strands and induce combination at lower temperature with complementary strands
