FAQ

Q?  Who is Low Energy Lighting Limited?

A – One of Europe’s niche low energy lighting consultancies delivering low energy, cost and carbon saving lighting solutions specialising in a wide variety of Induction, LED, and T5 Lighting products.

Q? Why Induction Lighting?

A – Easy…..To realise cost and carbon benefits from 50% energy savings, minimal maintenance, reduced life time costs, and CRC tax mitigation

Q? Is Induction Lighting a new technology?

A – Certainly not

Induction Lighting has been around for over 2 decades and the Induction lamp technology has now matured to a first choice lighting solution

Q? Are you limited to Induction lighting only?

A – NO!…..We specialise in a wide variety of Induction Lighting products and within our network enjoy exclusivity of the Matsushima portfolio of induction luminaires and retrofit lamps and ballasts.

However we offer unbiased site specific designs when our Induction luminaires are complimented by an extensive portfolio of LED luminaires and lamps, T5 and 8to5 Replacement and Retrofit Fluorescent linear tubes.

Q? Do you have a range of Induction products?

A – Yes….We have an extensive range of Induction products for the commercial, industrial, and retail and office environments all inclusive of a 5 year warranty.

Typically this includes highbay, lowbay, floodlights, tunnel lights, amenity lights, street lights, downlights, self ballasted lamps, and retrofit induction lamps and ballasts

Q How does Induction Lighting compare with LED lighting?

A – We offer Induction Lighting solutions for very sound commercial reasons, but we are acutely aware of, and do often use LED and T5 lighting systems in our solutions.

LEDs have an extensive feature in our portfolio and in many cases are a viable option and our designs take all factors into consideration.

However, when high light outputs are required our experiences to date favour Induction lighting to ensure a robust, cost effective solution, when payback periods are the crucial factor, especially in applications requiring the minimum of maintenance.

Q Does Induction compare favourably to SON, and Metal Halide?

A – Low Energy Lighting Limited, and in instances with our preferred installers, we provide low energy lighting solutions that reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, and at all times must be demonstrably cost-effective when compared to traditional Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium (SON) lamps and luminaires.

Induction lamps are by far the preferred option

Q? The Induction luminaire is more costly than traditional lighting systems. Why pay more?

A – Induction is the Future of Lighting for lifetime cost saving, energy and carbon reduction and represents a less costly solution when considering life time operating costs.

In an Induction lamp operating lifetime of 80,000 hours typically there would be 5 Metal Halide lamp changes involving the cost of the fittings plus workshop downtime, plus labour costs.

Q What are the implications of light switching and re-strike?

A – The HF solid state ballast and operation makes the Induction lamp imminently suited for use with motion detectors and / or Lux detection.

Additional energy savings can be as much as 30% when used in aisles in a logistics hub where random fork lift picking is operational. A total saving of c 80%.

Q Is there mercury in the Induction lamp? And if so is it harmful to the environment?

A – Yes and No – but it is not liquid mercury that is harmful to the environment it is a solid amalgam and is relatively harmless and meets the RoHS standards for hazardous substances, and is easily disposed of at end of life.
