Functions:
1. Immunostimulatory
Inulin: by increasing the number of granulocytes and leukocytes play a role in enhancing the chemotaxis of monocyte and neutral virus to develop bacteriolysis effect.
Polysaccharide: Hydrocarbon receptor of T lymphocytes and macrophages’ surface can produce immunostimulatory, can increase macrophage phagocytosis, stimulate the macrophages to increase tumor necrosis factor, interferon, and interleukin number, and can destroy tumor cells.
Alkyl amines and caffeic acid derivatives: lipophilic alkyl amines can increase macrophage phagocytosis.
Echinacea: increase activity of non-specific T cells to produce interferon, promote secretion of lymphocytes, and reduce the T-helper cells; reduce ratio of T-helper cells and inhibitory factor.
2. Organizational change and anti-infection
Inhibiting the hyaluronidase can stimulate the growth of fibroblast and synthesis of cosaminedase; produce the function of corticosterone, and promoting the secretion of adrenocortical hormone. Polysaccharides have effect on anti-infection.
3. Antimicrobial activity
Echinacea purpurea glycoside and caffeic acid derivatives have weak antibacterial activity.
4. Antiviral activity
It can inhibit influenza, herpes and foaming virus, and anti-virus activity, which is due to inhibition of hyaluronidase, and can impede the cell surface virus receptor.
