We have Maine Coon cats, which are famous for thier "underlayers" of fur that constantly cause a problem with matting, knotting and such. We must have every kind of brush, steel combs, matting rakes (different function), slickers, etc., but, we've never had a tool that removed so much hair (from underlayers), so easily ! It was really astounding...even after brushing my cat thouroughly with her steel-long-wire brush, her "fav" regular brush, and - collecting the loose hair with her "love glove"...This rake pulled out handfull after handfull of undercoat hair ! Even after grooming my Main Coons for years, I've never seen such a thing. And my cat did not protest this at all !
