melamine mdf board
Medium-density fiberboard, or MDF, is a manufactured wood product composed of wood fibers that are mixed with resin and wax and pressed into flat panels under high temperature and pressure. It is used much like plywood as a building material. Unlike particleboard, with which it is sometimes confused, MDF cuts well and has a smooth surface that is ideal for painting.
Advantages:
1.Aesthetics
Medium Density Fiberboard is used commonly due to the look it provides. It can be painted any color that wood can, and with many types of paints, including varnishes, water-based paints and oil-based paints.
2.Creation
MDF---a type of hardboard---is relatively simple to create. It is created from wood fibers that are glued together. The fiber material is strong due to how the creation process works. MDF is created by gluing wood fibers with heat and pressure.
3.Quality
MDF offers many advantages in its quality. It is a flat, dense material that does not have the imperfections that wood has, such as knots. Since MDF is an accumulation of wood particles, it does not have a surface grain that other materials have. MDF is also not prone to damage due to the lack of grain; this allows it to be cut, shaped, and drilled relatively easy.
4.Construction
The construction of MDF is relatively easy. Individual pieces can be connected with a wood glue, such as PVA wood glue, or other methods, including being doweled---using a pin to connect two pieces of wood---together or through wood-joints.
5.Forms
One distinct advantage of MDF is that it can be created into several different forms. Since the fibers are extremely thin---close to the thinness of cotton---they can be mixed with other materials to give the MDF material a different quality. Resins and additives can make MDF into a material that is formaldehyde free, fire-resistant and even resistant to moisture.
