 Sun-dried Red Ginseng Tails,herbs,herb medicine

In Chinese (ren shen) "ginseng" literally translates to "man essence" ('man' term includes women/children here). To Koreans it is called the "Elixir of Life". A royal plant to ancients, ginseng was strictly reserved for royalty and used regularly as a preventative and restorative medicine. Poor country folk could only use it sparingly and emergencies. Marco Polo took the herb to Europe. The French Science Academy debated its medicinal properties in the 1600's. Americans started cultivating it the 1800’s and collected wild ginseng from the Appalachian Mountains. Ginseng has been written about and used for thousands of years. In "The Herbal Classic of the Divine Plowman" (circa 100BC, China) the author Kee Chang Huang says ginseng is able to "support the five visceral organs, calm the nerves, tranquilize the mind, stop convulsions, expunge evil spirits, clear the eyes, and improve the memory." Panax Ginseng gets it’s name from the Greek word panacea, and has a huge broad-spectrum of uses and effects in people. Considered to be the king of tonic herbs in Asia, it is used by Koreans, Chinese and Japanese strengthen the body's immune system and defend it from all kinds of a diseases ranging from cancer to impotence.
Red Ginseng is white ginseng that is prepared by steaming it as many as 9 times. This changes its chemical properties into an effective tonic herb. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) says that red ginseng is “hot” and has strong restorative functions. Ginseng is best known as an adaptogen which is a group of plants that allow the body to respond well to stressors and strengthen and balance bodily functions.

Ginseng contains about 27 different saponins, volatile oils, antioxidants, amino acids, water-soluble sugars and vitamins B-1, B-2, B-12 and C. Maltol is one ginseng’s antioxidants and is a very similar in structure to vitamin E which may help explain ginseng’s brain protecting behavior. In 2003, a group of researchers from the University of Connecticut published a study of how Ginseng related to quality of life generally. They found that in 8 out of 9 users taking as little as 200mg of ginseng daily, reported improved quality of life, mental health and social functioning.
